Guages on 87 olds cutlass are not working properly. Fuel gauge sending unit- you will need to replace the fuel sending unit on your Olds. Temp guage– normally when this guage starts to malfunction, its because of a bad coolant temperature sensor. Inspect the sensor’s wires and connections. ECT engine coolant temperature sensor problems are often caused by faulty wiring or loose or corroded connections rather than the failure of the sensor itself.
If the wires or connections are bad, replace them.

An ammeter must have all the current the vehicle uses except starter running through it to read it properly. If you connect it between the alt and batt it may only read alt output and not show discharge. Also the wire gauges specified are way too low.

HOW IT WORKS Layered within the seat base skin of the passenger seat, there is a complex contact matrix like a foil printed circuit — looks like an aerial view of a maze that senses if the seat is occupied a bum on it and in most cases with post face-lift models, also auto-senses the proximity of the MB child seat. Understanding that the weight may fool the occupancy sensor to thinking an adult bum is on the seat, the child seat detector overrides this and signals the Air Bag Control Module to turn off passenger side airbags.
When it does this, the orange Air-Bag off transmission LED illuminates showing the system is disabled and its safe for baby to travel.
The THR4 is a stronger tranny, a disadvantage is slightly higher ratios for all gears (except 3rd of course) I say “disadvantage” for those of us who want to get a little more gas mileage out of it.
Thanked Times in Posts iTrader Score: I got a sunpro mechanical oil pressure gauge that i was going to put in my chevy pickup, but the one in my 91 2wd cummins sucks, so i was wondering if it would work in the cummins? The gauge is a psi mechanical sunpro gauge. Also, if it will work, how do i install it? Does it just go inplace of the old stock sending unit?
When i pull the old one out, will oil leak from it? Any help is appreciated. Yes, the gauge will work. You can install it several ways – The oil sending unit below and behind the power steering pump is what feeds the stock gauge.

It works fine right through the plastic dashboard. Unfortunately, this is a eBay listing so this link may eventually expire: The Pioneer supports two USB inputs. I should warn though that it was quite the pain to disassemble that cigarette lighter holder. After some minutes of use sometimes close to an hour , the Pioneer will report that the USB is disconnected and refuse to use it again until you power off the thing entirely for a moment.
Any attempt to zoom the map, takes you out of tracking your current position into a static view of the map. I contacted Pioneer and all I got from them is: After asking some owners on Amazon, it looks like the also lacks the ability to adjust how much of the map you see while navigating. Add sound deadening and insulation to cab doors While I was going to the trouble of removing the door panel covers to upgrade the speakers, it made sense to go ahead and add noise and vibration-deadening material to the doors.

Your hub for horsepower Get first access to hit shows like Roadkill and Dirt Every Day Join free for 14 days now The gas, oil, and temperature gauges in our Mopars have a bi-metal bar with a heating element coiled around it that slowly moves the needle. The sending unit frequently called a switch consists of either a variable-resistance conductor temp sending unit or a rheostat oil-pressure and gas-level sending unit and influences the amount of current flowing through it to the ground.
Bi-metal-gauge sending units offer less resistance when the engine is cold, gas level is low, or oil pressure is low, and more resistance in the opposite case. Understanding how the gauges work and how the circuit is wired makes it easier to diagnose a problem. The gas, oil pressure, and temperature gauges form a three-gauge circuit, while the amp gauge operates independently.

Hopefully this will makes things a bit smoother and give you a better understanding of the troubleshooting process. There is also a downloadable guide to assist you! Gauges are the eyes into the performance of our marine systems, not only do they provide us with normal operating information but can warn us of impending danger.
That temperature gauge that seems to creep up a bit more on each trip to the lake may be hinting at a water pump impeller failure. But for those gauges to be useful they have to work. Troubleshooting marine gauges is not as hard as you would think if you are equipped with the proper knowledge, so let? Many of the older boats still have the thermometer type temperature gauges, mechanical oil pressure and rpm gauges.
In most cases if the temperature gauge fails on these you will have to replace the whole unit. The oil pressure gauges on these older boats have a small hollow line that connect to the back of the gauge and is routed to a fitting on the engine. The line feeds oil up to the back gauge where the pressure is converted to a display on the gauge. In most cases these gauges stop working due to a clog or kink in the line or eventually a leak.
The old style tachometers have a medium sized cable fastened to the back.
Unfortunately when they took the upper rad hose off to install the Greddy Water temp sensor and adapter into the old plastic radiator, the top pipe crumbled to pieces! This was a common occurrence among these 20 year old Skylines, it happens as a result of heat cycling over and over. So since I had been meaning to move to a new alloy rad this was as good as time as any, so I ordered up a new Koyo Performance radiator and the guys installed it with a new radiator cap as well.
By this time my engine bay was starting to look pretty serious, a lot of alloy parts now. December 30, After much deliberation I finally bit the bullet and decided on a set of rims I would be really pleased to keep for a long time, it’s not that the TE37’s weren’t awesome, mine were just in a sore state being all scratched, and dinged up.
This triple gauge kit gives high performance with a great racing look. The kit consists of a voltmeter, mechanical oil pressure gauge and mechanical oil/water temperature gauge.
Brian I thought I’d share this recent repair in hopes it helps someone down the road. A Little background- Friend of mind called to ask what to do, he had no oil pressure showing on the dash gauge but no noise from engine and oil light was off and no warning on DIC to shutdown engine. Anyways, he took a chance and drove the vehicle home with no issues.
After many searches it seemed it must be the sensor since the vehicle was still running but why no light or message? Anyways, he drops by and I hook up my Bluetooth adapter and scan with Torque-BHP and the oil pressure is at psi and not moving. So, at this point we figured we’d try a new sensor and if that didn’t work we’d go from there.
Well, today I replaced the sensor and all is well. Pressure is back in range on the dash gauge and the scanner.

Get your Oil Pressure Sensor changed by a top-rated mechanic at the convenience of your home or office. Without the proper amount of oil, your engine will sustain major damage. Multiple systems in your car are designed to maintain the correct engine oil level and pressure. In order for the engine computer to regulate the flow of oil, the oil pressure sensor needs to work correctly. The oil pressure sensor is hooked directly to the oil pressure gauge on your instrument cluster.
When lower than normal oil pressure is detected, the pressure sensor will make the gauge in the car reflect this change. An Oil Pressure Warning Light will often accompany oil pressure sensor faults. Like any other sensor or switch in your engine, eventually the oil pressure sensor will have repair issues that need to be addressed. Failing to recognize the symptoms of a bad oil pressure sensor can lead to low oil levels , which can be very problematic for your engine.
If the Low Oil Light comes on , but you check the oil in the engine and it’s at a good level, then a faulty oil pressure sensor may be to blame. When this sensor goes bad, it will start to give inaccurate readings. After the readings fall out of specification, a warning light is set.
