Back to top 2: But while vacancy rates in Melbourne and Sydney 2 per cent were unchanged in August from July, an improvement in other capitals painted the picture of residential markets in the rest of the country starting to move after years of stagnation or even being in reverse, the latest figures from consultancy SQM Research show.
The country’s tightest residential market is Hobart, where the residential vacancy rate slipped to just 0. Darwin recorded the sharpest decline for the month with vacancy rates falling to 2. The NT capital has now recorded seven straight months of falling vacancy rate, suggesting the downturn in its rental market is over. But with a vacancy rate of between 2 per cent and 3 per cent indicating a market in equilibrium, the outlook for Melbourne backs up suggestions – such as that made by consultancy BIS Oxford Economics last week – that the city, like Sydney, will suffer from a shortage of dwellings, rather than a surplus.
And given the pronounced year-on-year declines in building approvals, we believe rents will likely rise at a faster pace in than what has been recorded in , thus far. We now have mounting concerns for significant rental shortages in for Sydney and Melbourne. Industry group Urban Development Institute of Australia supports the argument of an undersupply. A report it published last month argues that new housing construction estimates based on dwellings approvals numbers regularly overestimate the number of new homes that will actually be created because the development of sites in established areas involves the demolition of at least one existing dwelling.
Recent news has been dominated by a crackdown on capital outflows, worries about rapid debt growth, and efforts to rein in a risky overseas investment binge, writes Christopher Balding on Bloomberg. Yet ordinary Chinese are highly optimistic:

Doug and I worked with a wonderful couple this past fall at The Sanderling. I like to ask our couples how they met. They had such a wonderful story so I asked Kelly to write something up for me. Dusty and I were set up by 2 mutual friends. Neither one of us happened to be dating anyone at the time so they gave us each others numbers and as they say the rest is history. We were then going to go out for drinks to celebrate and our families were all going to be a restaurant near our house where they were going to surprise me!!
However, mother nature had a different plan!! The night before a huge snowstorm hit us and pretty much shut everything down for the day of the 13th. Our families were not able to travel due to the weather, so we woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland on February 13th. Neither one of us had to go to work so we bundled up and went out to shovel for a good 2 hours.
We came in around 10 a. I decided to start baking which I never do. Every time I went in and sat down, the timer for the muffins I as baking went off.

To say my boyfriend and I were excited for this trip was an understatement. We pulled up to the Tar Heel Motel, checked in, threw our bags down and within about 10 minutes we were on the beach with drinks in hand. Just because someone takes a job with the government does not mean they give up their rights… or their ability to act on their beliefs. But we were in Nags Head, about miles from the statehouse in Raleigh.
Sure enough, our trip was flawless. Born and raised on a farm in New York, she came out at 21 and spent her days in factories or making her own goat cheese. She decided she was ready for a change of pace and headed south to NC with her best friend. Now she heads up her own local cleaning company and spends her off hours on the beach. Alongside Space was Lisa Crane, a transgender woman and local state employee.
Crane grew up in and around the OBX, attending elementary, middle and high school in the area before enlisting in the Navy. When Crane went to change her name, the county clerk turned out to be the man she joined the Navy with there was a buddy system then, she said. She was a little nervous, but sure enough when she dropped the application he reached over and hugged her and told her how happy he was for her. So is OBX just about the beach?

Burns Woolly Mammoths Remains: By Sue Bishop Since Ted Holden has repeatedly insisted that the mammoth whose remains were found in Siberia in was preserved by some great catastrophe as described in Velikovsky’s books, I decided to research the topic. I found several books on the subject, including the original book written by one of the scientists who actually examined, preserved and transported the mammoth remains from Siberia.

Geography[ edit ] The Outer Banks is a string of peninsulas and barrier islands separating the Atlantic Ocean from mainland North Carolina. From north to south, the largest of these include: Bodie Island which used to be a peninsula but is now an island due to tropical storms and hurricanes , Hatteras Island , Ocracoke Island , Portsmouth Island , and the Core Banks.
Sources differ regarding the southern terminus of the Outer Banks. Generations of North Carolina schoolchildren have learned that the term includes the state’s three prominent capes: OBX, which originated first, is generally used in the northern Outer Banks. The northern part of the Outer Banks, from Oregon Inlet northward, is actually a part of the North American mainland, since the northern inlets of Bodie Island and Currituck Banks no longer exist.
Road access to the northern Outer Banks is cut off between Sandbridge and Corolla, North Carolina , with communities such as Carova Beach accessible only by four-wheel drive vehicles. North Carolina State Highway 12 links most of the popular Outer Banks communities in this section of the coast. The Outer Banks are not anchored to offshore coral reefs like some other barrier islands and as a consequence they often suffer significant beach erosion during major storms.
In fact, their location jutting out into the Atlantic makes them the most hurricane -prone area north of Florida , for both landfalling storms and brushing storms offshore. Hatteras Island was cut in half on September 18, , when Hurricane Isabel washed a 2, foot m wide and 15 foot 5 m deep channel called Isabel Inlet through the community of Hatteras Village on the southern end of the island.

Leave a comment Radar screen grab showing my location as the eye of hurricane Arthur passed over me The hurricane Arthur field mission to the Outer Banks of North Carolina was one of the most successful in our history. We had more technology to throw at it than in any other event. The results have been fantastic! I want to share some of those with you now. I may be the guy on TV sometimes but there is a real team effort going on here and it shows in our results.
The goal was to gather data and report on conditions. Screen capture from our app showing the live weather data coming in from the anemometer placed on a house in Rodanthe, NC Jesse and I arrived in Rodanthe about an hour before sunrise on Thursday, July 3. Within 45 minutes, the weather station was set up and streaming live data to our our app, Hurricane Impact. By early afternoon, we had flown the quad copter three times in three separate places to show the area before Arthur pushed through.
I felt it was important to see the region before the high water lines and debris in order to compare later and piece together the how and why of the storm surge that was sure to affect the area. We set up a live streaming camera, with audio for the first time ever, at a home in Hatteras Village. I thought there was a chance for significant surge flooding there as we saw during Alex in It did not happen this time due to a different track than Alex took but the camera ran perfect for over 24 hours — a new record for our technology.
